Building Just Communities Through Multiracial Leadership Development and Organizing

EST. 1996

For over 25 years, Youth Together has partnered with youth in impacted communities to transform their public education institutions to provide every student with a high-quality educational experience. We believe youth are inherently valuable and powerful and must be key players in creating a world free of internalized, interpersonal, and institutional oppression. When our schools thrive, our communities thrive.

Youth Together builds on two key strategies to address educational inequities:

Years of Organizing

“YT to me is family. YT is the community I needed to get me through these years of high school. I have grown by being more comfortable with people and growing trust with others. I stopped limiting myself to what I’m comfortable with. Because of this, I began to see myself as an outspoken person. Someone who isn’t scared to speak their mind. I stand up for myself and can accept when I am wrong.”

Spring 2024

Students in the 4th period Leadership Class at Skyline High School were fed up with school meals, so they launched a school-wide campaign to improve campus food. With Youth Together’s support, their efforts initiated a quantitative survey, yielding over 460 responses, which propelled them into the subsequent phase of qualitative surveys. These surveys delved into students’ perceptions of school food and their experiences, garnering over 60 responses to improve nutrition quality, accessibility, and transparency.
