Expanded Learning

Youth Together believes it takes all members of a school community to help identify solutions to make concrete changes that increase the opportunities for students to be successful. The One Land One People (OLOP) Youth Center is a multi-service collaborative and school-based student center. Youth Together has operated one fully functional youth center at Skyline High School since the Fall of 2002. To see our list of programming for the 2024-2025 school year, click here!

Academics

Sometimes solving a problem is easier with two brains than one. Whether you are a 9th grader or a student-athlete, there are a handful of academic support systems on campus. At YT, we teach students how to utilize tools to improve their academic performance. There are also drop-ins for the students looking for a little assistance. Whatever the case is, come in and talk to one of our staff for support!

Internship

The One Land One People Internship comprises high school students in grades 10 through 12, characterized by their strong work ethic and determination to enhance their school community. This program offers students the chance to cultivate and acquire skills aimed at improving school community, student leadership, fostering healthy community relations, and increasing civic engagement.

“After becoming an intern at the Youth Center, I learned to get things done, juggle work, school, and studying, and have time for myself.”

Nizie Brou, 11th Grade
OLOP Intern

Dual Enrollment

Youth Together, in partnership with Skyline High School and Peralta Colleges, facilitates support for students interested in enrolling in Dual Enrollment classes. These classes, taught by college professors on the high school campus, offer students a glimpse into college-level coursework. Engaging in Dual Enrollment not only provides students with an insight into the college experience but also assists in improving their grades and fulfilling general education requirements. Sign up for dance, psychology, or business!

Enrichment

At YT we understand that one size doesn’t fit all. Some students like cooking, while others might like mock trials. Some students like sports, while others like performing arts. In 2024-2025, we will offer a vast and diverse list of offerings!

Newcomers

Newcomers Programs are created to support students who have recently immigrated to the United States and have little to no English Proficiency. Also, they are intended to help bridge the educational and social-emotional experience of students and to support newcomer students and families. Youth Together wants to make sure all students have a community they can rely on, which led to the creation of the Latina Girls Group and the Newcomers Boys 1-on-1 Program.

Physical Activity

YT is coordinating a handful of physical activities after school next year like intramural leagues, self-defense courses, choreographed dance workshops, and off-site boxing!

Workshops

The OLOP Youth Center hosts weekly workshops every Wednesday, featuring a variety of activities aimed at academic enrichment, Do It Yourself (DIY) projects, cultural and self-awareness seminars, and skill-building exercises.

College & Career

To aid students interested in pursuing higher education, OLOP Youth Center assists with the college application process, FAFSA applications, and arranges events facilitating discussions with college alumni. Moreover, the center organizes college tours, enabling students to gain firsthand insight into various institutions and make informed decisions about their educational path for the next four years.
