Programming Before and After School

Morning Library - Study Space

The library is open an hour before school for any students who needs a space to study, finish assignments, or access technology resources. Supervising staff provides additional academic support, series portal access, and referrals to tutoring after-school.

Newcomers Literacy Support

Newcomer students will have access to morning space and can work with a dedicated teacher to seek additional assistance and academic support for homework, class assignments, and literacy.

Work Experience Drop-In

The Youth Center is open for students who have Work Experience during 1st, 2nd, 6th, and/or 7th periods.

After-School Drop-In

The Youth Center is open after-school for students who needs a space to be or are looking for programs to join after-school.

After-School Study Space

An academic and support group for a cohort of students. We will integrate academic case management, community-building activities, and after-school tutoring. Also providing communication between teachers and families to help students improve academically every marking period throughout the school year.

Tutoring Center

Open to all Skyline students seeking additional academic support for core classes (Language Arts, Math, History/Social Science, English, & Science) four times a week

SPAAT

Provides support programs to help student-athletes make a successful transition to college and career.

Dual Enrollment

In partnership with Peralta Colleges and OUSD, students can inquire, enroll, and take college courses after school on campus for the 2024-2025 academic school year. After-school will host an introductory course for the following courses that earn college credits and expand on academic learning:

  • Business

  • Psychology

  • Dance Production

  • Culinary Arts

OLOP Internship

Students will have the opportunity to apply for the One Land One People (OLOP) internship program. OLOP interns will provide hands-on support during Skyline Summer Bridge, providing overview of high school life and success, navigating school and aeries, and college and career planning. During the school year, OLOP interns will support with student voice with program assessments and offerings, student led workshops and events, and after-school culture and climate.

Youth Together

A program that focuses on activism, leadership, and civic engagement.

Teens on Target

This program gives students the opportunity to share their stories, be a part of the change in their community, mentor the younger generation, advocate to stop the violence and get paid while doing it.

Real Hard

Students have the opportunity to change their school, build community, have fun, and get a stipend!

Mock Trial

In Mock Trial, students play the role of trial attorneys, pretrial attorneys, witnesses, defendants, bailiffs, courtroom clerks, artists, and more. The team will put on a complete trials against other schools and compete in the Alameda County Mock Trial Competition that occurs in January and February.

Photography

This program will provide students with the fundamental knowledge, aesthetic, and technical skills to become a photographer.

Visual Arts

This program will provide students with the fundamentals of visual arts that include painting and/or mural designs.

Drivers’ Education

Students who are 15 1/2 years of age can apply to receive instructional hours through an online course to earn their provisional permit needed to obtain a California Driver’s License.

Hip-Hop 101

This program focuses on dancing, stretching, and conditioning.

Self-Defense

This program will provide a space where students can learn self-defense, mixed martial arts, or boxing.

Intramural Sports

Students will be able to recruit their team in basketball, volleyball, and flag football which will be a six-week tournament ending in a championship game.

Strength Training

This program will offer strength training programs that includes weight lifting.

Workshop Wednesdays

Weekly workshops focused on academic enrichment, Do It Yourself (DIY) projects, cultural and self-awareness seminars, and skill-building. Workshop topics include Hip Hop Dance 101, Self Defense, and College & Career presentations.
